Pictures finally...

I finally posted some pictures of my finished knit projects, just click on the thumbnails along the right to see some larger photos.

Quiet weekend. Saturday I rode kilometers 84 to 144 of the Ironman Canada course on the Computrainer. Only 36 more kilometers to go before I can say I have ridden the whole thing. Of course it is a different thing all together to ride it over the course of four weekends than it is to ride it in around 8 hours and then get off and run a marathon... Sunday I did a 14 kilometer run. It was fairly cold, but 95% of the sidewalks are clear so footing wasn't too much of a problem.

I finished the back and one side of the little baby sweater. But I am out of yarn and am hoping my mom will pop into the store where I bought it and find more and then I can finish the other side. I am practicing my buttonholes as I have never done them before. It is harder than it looks. I will practice a bit more more I finish the other side of the sweater.

Ugh, I got lazy again...

It's been a full week since I put anything up here... so let us take a look backwards shall we?

Today: ~8K run at lunch in the snow and wind.
Yesterday: A little wipe out on my bike on the way to pilates class. A really boring pretty much flat 30K ride on the computrainer for the challenge.
Tuesday: a very easy run with the group I lead including a new beginner that just joined
Monday: Yoga class. Lots of hip and hamstring work. Enjoyable but difficult
Sunday: a 12K run, slipped and fell on some ice on the hill around the corner from my house
Saturday: 2 hours on the computrainer. Rode kilometers 36-84 of the Ironman Canada course including Richters Pass.
Friday: bailed out of swimming because I had to leave my bike at the office Thursday night because I had a flat tire

So that's about it in a nutshell.

I am working on a little baby sweater for kicks. I don't think I have enough yarn to make the whole sweater, but I wanted to see if I could figure out how to follow the pattern so I cast it on with some left over yarn I had. If I do manage to finish it I have no idea what I will do with it. It is for a very young baby (like 1 year or less) so I am not sure who I could give it to as most of the babies I know right now are coming up on (or just past) one year. I am still working on the funnel neck top. I made a mistake and I am thinking about how I am going to fix it.

I have a work Christmas party this evening. The snow is REALLY coming down so we'll see what the turn out is like.

What's been going on...

Not much I guess or otherwise I might have been compelled to write something.

Monday night yoga class, Tuesday night a chilly run, Wednesday morning pilates class (which is getting tougher!) and Wednesday night CompuTrainer challenge ride.

The CompuTrainer challenge has me feeling a little bit depressed. I am dead last with the slowest time every week, and even people with slower times on the lactate test are kicking my butt. I am trying to remain upbeat about the whole thing. I am sure some of it just the plain old stuck inside winter blues, but being last every single time starts to get really depressing. With the speeds I have been averaging on these rides (and my long rides on the weekend) I find I am constantly concerned about making the bike cut off time in Penticton next year. One part of me thinks it will all be OK and the other part of me thinks that it is a long way to go and a lot of money to spend to miss the bike cut off. But I guess racing means facing the possibility of 'failure'.

What am I looking foward to today? The Swiss Chalet Festive Special delivered to my office!

Busy Weekend...

I think I was out of the house more this weekend than I was for all of November combined... and what that really says is I guess I am not a very social person...

Friday night Shayne gave me one of my Christmas presents early and took me to see Sarah Harmer at Harbourfront. The show was amazing. It was just her and her acoustic band (mandolin, banjo, violin, accordion, piano...). She played a good variety of stuff from her past three albums as well as some cover tunes. She has been touring the area to raise money and awareness for a Niagara Escarpment cause, trying to stop development in an area where her parents also have a farm.

Saturday night we went to see the new Harry Potter film. We had been putting of going for the past few weekends, waiting for the crowds to die down and just out of laziness really. But I am glad we managed to go and see it on the big screen. The scenes/settings were just amazing, especially the World Quiddich cup stadium and the Triwizard tournament settings. The teenage angst that is all pervasive in the book has been toned down just enough to be heartbreaking (but without the whinging that I found annoying in the book). So it was well worth the almost $12.00 (!!!!!!!!) to get in.

Training wise, Saturday I rode the CompuTrainer for 1:30. I did the first 36K of the Ironman Canada course. Pretty uneventful. Sunday I did a 10K that was actually quicker than I thought it would be. So that was a nice surprise.

Knitting wise I didn't accomplish much. I am knitting another umbilical cord hat (although I don't know for whom, mostly just to use up some yarn I have laying around). I am working on the back (or front, whichever, they are both the same) of the funnel necked sleeveless shell. So maybe I will be ready to piece that together by the end of the weekend.
